Clive Davis was arguably the most influential music executive in history. He signed or mentored Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, and dozens of other superstars across a career spanning five decades. He led Columbia Records, founded Arista Records, and created J Records. His annual pre-Grammy gala was the most exclusive event in the music industry.
